Salt Lake City, Utah
The 32,000 sq. ft. TOC serves as mission control for Utah’s Intelligent Transportation
System. Spectrum designed the system to accept and route composite video signals
using a video matrix switcher. The switcher, routing a minimum of 300 inputs to
200 outputs, provides video signals to various signal processors (quad splitter
and wall controller), which in turn present signals to a bay of twelve rear-projection
displays. The wall controller facilitates the simultaneous display of large amounts
of information. It allows the user to open multiple windows of information and resize
them freely across screen boundaries using an x-windows protocol. The display units
are designed to simultaneously operate to form one image or up to 48 separate images
on the video display wall, which measures more than 12.5 feet tall and 22 feet wide.
A production studio is equipped for live video broadcast and production, with set
lighting, broadcast quality cameras, audio and monitoring systems, professional
recording gear, intercom, chromakey facility, production, broadcast and control
rooms.
