South Jordan, Utah
This $4 million, 20,517 sq. ft. structure is LEED® Certified. Spectrum Engineers
provided electrical engineering and lighting design for this new facility featuring
a large interior space that maximizes natural light for energy efficiency and psychological/physiological
benefits to occupants. A large open space is divided into smaller specialty areas
with artwork installations, furniture arrangements and artistic lighting. Municipal
libraries today require balance—balance between day and night operations, dictating
balance between daylight and artificial lighting; between paper and electronic tasks,
and of course; between interests of adults and children. With sustainability as
a goal, Spectrum Engineers incorporated LEED® criteria into the lighting design,
which complies with the requirements of the IECC. Energy-efficient light sources
were used throughout the space. A dimmer allows display lighting to be tuned to
the amount of light needed and to extend lamp life.
