The conversion of this historic, concrete warehouse into the 68,000 sq. ft. contemporary
headquarters for a prominent builder was a monumental task, but one that proved
worth the effort. Spectrum Engineers provided electrical and acoustical engineering
and lighting design for this project budgeted at $15 million. It includes offices
and administration areas, meeting rooms, a boardroom and a cafeteria/breakroom supporting
approximately 100 employees. An atrium was added by cutting 60 foot by 20 foot sections
out of each of the building’s floors and roof, creating a light well that allows
natural light into the entire building. Spectrum designed efficient lighting. Artificial
lighting is integrated with daylight. Total building energy efficiency is 30 percent
less than code (lighting is 53 percent less).
