The Gateway development covers a multi-block area near downtown Salt Lake City,
and is a major re-development and urban reclamation project for the city. The mixed-use
development is a multi-building complex, including retail, restaurants, a cinema,
cultural buildings (museums and planetarium), offices, and condominiums and luxury
apartments. The $375 million development was the largest in the City’s history.
Spectrum Engineers designed the development’s power distribution, fire alarm, lighting
control and tenant metering via the building management system as well as site lighting
for the entire development and was the lighting designer and electrical engineer
for Block A, Block C and Block F. In addition to 675,000 sq. ft. of retail space,
Gateway provides approximately 400,000 sq. ft. of office space; a 250-room hotel;
housing consisting of 500 apartments, condominiums and affordable housing units;
and parking for 4,000 in underground facilities.
