A few years after the completion of the Jordan High School stadium, an exposition
center was built nearby with a large concrete wall that changed the acoustics of
the stadium’s end zone. Unacceptable acoustical reflection off the wall destroyed
intelligibility. The stadium’s original sound system was not able to reproduce full
audio range, making the system effective only for voice, but not for music reproduction.
The problem became much more pronounced with the completion of the concrete mass
of the exposition center.
Spectrum’s technology designers provided a cluster of speakers, placed on the scoreboard
at one end of the field, that eliminated the echo and provided even and intelligible
coverage in all seating areas. The new sound system also provides audio coverage
for music during half-time performances.
