This fine arts center required design innovations to support amateur crews, low
operating and first costs and capabilities suitable for a variety of users. The
facility includes a 1200-seat theatre with a 50 ft. wide stage, shops and loading
facilities for touring and resident users. Spectrum Engineers designed professional
lighting, stage rigging, acoustics and sound systems to be serviced and maintained
by a minimal crew. To save energy, worklights in the auditorium, stage and support
spaces reduce the operating time of expensive tungsten halogen stage and house lighting.
All performance houselights are dimmable and designed to enhance the architecture.
Spectrum kept the project under budget and minimized operating costs by decreasing
cooling loads and by using efficient compact fluorescents, occupancy or need-based
controls and inexpensive worklights.
