Draper, Utah
This 32,000 sq. ft., $5.5 million church may be described as timeless, extraordinarily
open and reverent. Spectrum Engineers provided MEP/T consulting services: electrical,
mechanical, technology (including design and programming of the building management
system and sound system design) and acoustical engineering and lighting design.
Lighting designers were charged with maintaining both the open feel of the architecture,
bringing intimacy to the space and providing lighting that addresses functions ranging
from worship to education. In this mostly daylighted facility, lighting systems
were designed to minimize transitions occupants perceive between daylighted and
artificially lighted spaces. Spectrum has won several awards for this project including
the GE Edison Award for Lighting Design (only one award presented internationally
each year), the GE Lighting Award for Sustainable Design and a Consulting-Specifying
Engineer ARC Award for Automation and Controls.
