The Digital Learning Center (DLC) is a $48 million, 190,000 sq. ft., design/build
project that is 65 to 90 percent more energy efficient than facilities built under
older, conventional codes. More than a paper-based book repository, the five-level
building supports traditional library amenities along with electronic media. It
is home to a cafe, group study rooms, study kiosks and classrooms and is designed
for 24-hour use. Spectrum was the engineer of record and provided electrical engineering
and technology design services, which included structured cabling and A/V systems.
Integrated daylight controls maximize energy efficiency. Emergency power generation
and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for the campus data center located
in DLC help ensure data reliability and security. Spectrum was also involved in
programming this project.
