University Hospital West Pavilion Expansion

Salt Lake City, UT
As part of a major expansion of three areas to the University Hospital, the addition of the 252,495 sq. ft., seven-floor (two under- and five above-grade) $107 million West Pavilion became the new main entrance for the hospital and represents what most people see first as they approach the campus. This expansion changed the aesthetics of University Hospital by adding a modern façade with a lot of windows that allow natural light into patient areas. It features a bright and cheery cafeteria/food service area and all-private inpatient rooms—a significant improvement from older areas that were built with semi-private rooms (two patients per room). The West Pavilion includes patient treatment areas, labor and delivery and a nursery. Spectrum provided electrical and acoustical engineering, lighting design and technology design, which included designing the fire alarm system.
