This $4 million, 12,481 sq. ft., single-story building serves as an education facility
for visitors to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and is also used
by the Bureau of Land Management as an operations / work center. It includes approximately
1,300 sq. ft. of interior exhibits and about 500 sq. ft. of exterior exhibits and
consumes 40 percent less energy than a conventional facility of similar size. Interior
spaces include: interpretation and trip planning areas, exhibit spaces, collections
and other storage space, 75-seat theater, sales, offices, science labs, public restrooms,
lunchroom, workroom and large conference room. Electrical systems include: category
5 voice/data and phone, building access with card readers, closed circuit television
and theater A/V equipment. Spectrum provided the electrical engineering and technology
design (theater A/V and acoustics).
